Nothing beats Scientific people!
ok, i'll be good here. i shan't talk bad about people.
Have you ever been stuck in a situation where you said a lame joke and everyone else around you starts giving you scientific answers?
well, yesterday was the classic example when my neighbours and i were invited to join another singaporean group for dinner.
after much consideration, we decided to go for it so that we can make more friends.
nevertheless, i brought along my trusty Mr ipod just in case the atmosphere grew cold. indeed it proved useful one more time.
apparently, the word "lame" does not exist in some people's dictionary.
they brains are saturated with so many scientific facts that even a lame joke can be turned into a science tutorial for me.
great. that was so uncalled for.
the joke was what do you call an injured banana?
in the end, i had a lesson on redox reaction (a science reaction)
another question was "what happens when you place a brinjal on the table for 5 days?"
soon, i was bombarded with oxidation and reduction reactions.
woah! it totally made lame people's brains look puny and dead as compared to your scientific brains with synapses lying so close to each other that messages are relayed at lightning speed.
hello? it was a friday night and the last thing we needed was a tutorial on redox reactions on a cold and rainy night.
and please do not say: "I'm just too scientific for this". We get your point and we are just way too non-scientific for proper science questions.
My bud would have sat on you at that moment if he was there.
Seriously, since when lame jokes involved the usage of the brain cells to answer really dumb questions?
Lame jokes are created to use virtually almost none of those brain cells and to give overworked neuronal cells a rest. Not to prove if the theory of redox can be used on injured bananas! C’mon, all science students know that! If I wanted a tutorial, I would have ask: “Hey! Teach me the redox reaction using a banana. I’m so keen to learn!”
imagine a group of singaporeans walking in the cold with the howling winds and i'm trying to lighten up the mood by asking some idiotic questions and your answers just so made us wanna run away for our lives.
we just wanted to take flight and run off but we promised having ice-cream at some cafe nearby.
ok...so having ice-cream wasn't as fun as it should be. the prawns sat on one side and the others were on the other side.
perhaps it was this boredom that led us to start allocating each of the prawn a genus name(is that scientific enough?)
we had a good laugh among ourselves. Or should I say that we had humor therapy and during that process, we had a boost in our immune system, the chances of getting a heart attack in the near future was lowered, we had a good workout by strengthening various muscles in our bodies and we managed to shed several calories throughout the entire exercise (exact calories shall be done in later experiments). Our stress hormones and blood pressures were lowered and brain activities were improved.
By the way, i'm called Tiger Prawn. No wait! It’s Penaeus esculentus or P. monodon
Now, is that scientific enough?
