Shocked.
this morning i was abruptly told to go down to school by my classmate as there was a pancake give away. class was suppose to start in 10 mins and i was still bumming around at home so i quickly grabbed my bag and keys and rushed straight for school just for some pancakes.
when i got there, there was indeed a pancake giveaway but it was a PATHETIC pancake giveaway. ok. at this point, i shouldnt have said that as it was still food and hey! it's free anyway. so thank You for the pancakes.
so school was pretty ok. paid my bills while i was in school. there was a small fight outside the sch library and a crowd began to gather. i was sipping on my coffee and decided to stick my head and see what was the commotion about. it was about the war in Lebanon. i thought it would be wiser to just leave as a security guard was called down to the scene. what i thought was amusing was that just opposite them was a booth set up by singaporeans in celebration of National Day. Nobody could be interested in them, so was i. i'd rather go home and watch the simpsons.
when i logged onto msn, i was suprised to see this nic: "Prawn's friend". imagine that smile on my face as i begin to think what an impact this whole prawn crap is making on people around me! (i know, bullsh*t)
here comes another one, imagine my horror when i went into george's blog and i saw myself on YOUTUBE. i was stunned for the moment and my mouth wouldn't close. although i had troubles loading the video, i can imagine it aint a very flattering video. but hey, nice to be able to see you via webcam! i'm still wondering if i'm really being _ _ _ _ed, slightly. it would be upsetting if i really was. but i hope x would study hard(er).
at night i went up to my neighbour's place for dinner (thanks again!). by 1130pm, my eyes were near closing so i decided to come back home to sleep. but my hands didnt pay attention and went straight for the tv controls when i reached home. so i was stuck watching tv. but it aint your regular 'whose line is it anyway?' it was a documentary on the lives of iranian women. i was appalled by their constant sufferings as women in this 'man-dominant' country. women who were caught late at night with another man were sentenced to numerous lashings, women who had pre-marital sex were either lashed, executed or raped by police. women who were RAPED were caught and prosecuted for having pre-marital sex and sentenced to execution while the men got away with mere lashings. i was horrified when they sent a 16yr old girl to her death after being raped. nobody knew her exact age and presumed that she was a 22 yr old based on her body size. by law, anyone under the age of 18 cannot be hanged. since no one came to clarify, including her laywer and judge (he declined further questioning), she was sent off to her death.
POOR THING!
sad. but that was a just a dose of reality.
what really opened my eyes was when they showed how women were lashed and how people were hanged. when we think of hanging, we think of a noose being placed around their necks and when ready, the floor beneath them opens and... but this is different. executions are a public affair and anyone can come to watch. even hp video recordings are allowed (sadists). a rope was being placed around their necks, a blindfold is used to cover their eyes, prayers will be said and a crane will hoist them up into the air and their poor bodies will be hung there like puppets until they die.
cruel. i wasnt able to sleep after that.
but i got a prac test at 10 later and i really have to catch up with some sleep.
so before you turn off your lights and tuck urself into bed, be thankful that you're in singapore and not in some 'male dominant' country where men get away scot- free while the women takes the blame.
God bless.
HAPPY NATIONAL DAY!
