His joy is my strength

The joy of the Lord is your strength.

i never really understood that line. what does 'joy of the lord' mean? How does He become joyous? by just looking at us? or what?

i wanted to know the answer. but whom can i ask at such an hour? so i searched online and found these...

'As we obey Jesus and His word we find joy in knowing that our sins are forgiven; we also find strength to overcome guilt and condemnation. '

'when we are happy in the Lord and enjoying Him, we have strength'

'When He looks down upon us, what does He see, as to our conduct down here? If what He sees makes Him happy, it is because we are going on well or serving Him acceptably, and that is a source of strength to us also. So there is our joy in Him and His joy in us, each one a source of strength, which makes for double joy and double strength! Surely we should be a happy people.'
